A.K.A. Gecko, the one and only, the third

What is a heartbeat?

The electric jolt causing the atria and ventricles to contract and pump blood throughout one’s body.
A scientist might say.
A rhythmic bass sound serving as an inspirational source for creating new beats.
A musician might say.
A ticking clock, the promise of an end, reminding you to make sure time is well spent.
A poet might say.

Now the heart can skip a beat. Is it a malfunction or an extra second? Where is rhythm in a singularity? When does it skip a beat?

When I arrive home after a long day of work and see my wife and children.
A loving husband might say.
When I finally get my favourite book signed after waiting in line for two hours.
A fanboy might say.
When I display my paintings for the first time in a public place.
An aspiring artist might say.

In the face of our dreams, the heart reacts like a shout. I say it is more! More than a jolt, more than an inspirational source, more than a promise. It is the soul of the person we aspire to be, the soul of our dreams and passions. We need courage to follow the unknown path leading to our dreams, a path that can only be lit by our future selves who have faced the dark road as we are about to now.
And thus my heartbeat is the soul of my inner self, my future self!
